In this course students will be memorizing Surah Al-Baqarah with a brief explanation of the meaning of the verses from the instructor. This course is a continuing class where students will resume new memorization from p.31 (al-Baqarah: 197). Students are expected to memorize 3 new pages and revise at least 3 pages of old memorization each week. New students are welcome to join this course with the expectation that they have previously memorized the earlier pages of the surah (p.2-30, al-Baqarah 1-196).
‘Learn Surah Al-Baqarah, because in learning it there is blessing, in ignoring it there is sorrow, and the sorceresses cannot confront it, (He ﷺ kept silent for a while and then said), ‘Learn Surah Al-Baqarah and Ali Imran because they are two lights and they shade their people on the Day of Resurrection, just as two clouds, two spaces of shade or two lines of (flying) birds.’ [Ahmad and Ibn Majah]
Students should be able to recite with fluency with correct articulation of letters and application of rules of noon sākinah and meem sākinah. Students are expected to have already completed their memorization of al-Baqarah 1-196 (p.2-30) prior to joining this course.
